The Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP) supported by Centre for Social Action (CSA) was inaugurated on 2nd of February 2016 at Kainakary. The ICDP project is supported by the Christ University Centre for Social Action (CSA) and is being implemented in Kainakary and Ernakulam.
The official inauguration session was commenced at 11:30 am with a prayer song. CEVA Secretary Rev. Fr. Jince Padinjareyil CMI welcomed the gathering. He emphasized the importance of initiating this project for the Welfare of Cancer patients and their families in Kainakary.
The Presidential address was delivered by Smt. Mayadevi (Member, Kainakary Panchayath). She appreciated CEVA’s initiatives for Cancer patients and expressed her interest in supporting the initiatives.
Fr. Johnson Panthalanickal CMI (Director, Chavara Bhavan) inaugurated the Food Processing Unit (Kuttanadan Acharukal) by purchasing its first pickle product.
Rev. Fr. Johnson Panthalanickal CMI, the Director of Chavara Bhavan and Mr. Ranjith Kumar Singh, the Programme Manager of Centre for Social Action felicitated during the programme. Mr. Rajesh, the Assistant Financial Manager of Centre for Social Action was present in the programme.
Mr. Ranjit & Mr. Rajesh visited the Food Processing Unit and Tailoring Unit and interacted with the unit members. Mr. Sinoj Xavier (Project Officer, CEVA) extended a vote of thanks to all those who have gathered and supported for the successful implementation of the project.
Street Play on Cancer:
The street play on Cancer was performed by the MSW students of St. Albert’s College Ernakulam and Sree Sankaracharya University Regional Centre Thuravoor. The prime objective behind the performance was to generate awareness among the people. Street plays were performed at Chavara Bhavan, Kuriakose Elias Carmel School, St. Mary’s High School, and Holy Family Girls School and in the road near the Kainakary Panchayath office. The street plays were effective in making the people aware about Cancer, its causes, treatment and schemes available for the patients.
