The Key Handover Ceremony of the house built by the collective efforts of CMI Social Apostolate and FMM Congregation was held on June 2, 2015 at Chavara Cultural Centre, Kochi. Honorable Justice A. V. Ramakrishna Pillai presented the key to Mr. K. J. Wilson and his family.
The CMI Congregation commemorating the canonization of St. Chavara has designed year-long activities to mark the Chavara Year – with a variety of family enrichment and empowerment initiatives through CEVA. Chavara Awaz Yojana – is one such venture through which already 216 houses are being constructed for the poor and homeless across India. This event marks the realization of the dream of one such house under the project.
In the event presided over by Rev. Fr. Varghese Vithayathil CMI, Vicar General & Councillor for Social Apostolate, Rev. Fr. Jince Padinjareyil CMI Secretary of CEVA, delivered the welcome address. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Rev. Sr. Lilly Chakalackal, House Challenge Coordinator, Mr. C.P. Ramachandran, Secretary-Ernakulam Karayogam, Rev. Sr. Elsamma – FMM Provincial Councillor, Rev. Fr. Roby Kannanchira, Director-Chavara Cultural Centre, Rev. Fr. Jose Thachil Vice President – CEVA, and Mrs. Lilly Paul House Challenge Coordinator. On the occasion, Monsoon Kits were gifted by Rev. Fr. Varghese Vithayathil to the members of the Pranamam Group – a senior citizens group supported by CEVA.
